Feb 2012

Oh wow how time flies, I have been so busy training and improving that I have neglected to keep up with my Blog site.

Let me see, the ski season started off kind of slow due to the lack of snow.  We spent two weeks training at Copper Mountain and let me tell you I was feeling very rough around the edges with my skiing.  But with almost 8 days of drills things started to come back.  We ended the Copper Camp with a day of Giant Slalom with the US Adaptive National Team.

December had me attending Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge followed by 4 races in Copper Mountain.  I finished 8th on the first GS, had a DNF (did not finish) on the second GS, and two DNF’s on both Slalom races.  While I was disappointed in the SL results I was attacking the course so I am not entirely unhappy. The end of the month I participated in a fund raiser in Aspen called the Ajax Cup where one of my teammates was Antonio Banderas.

January we traveled to Waterville Valley NH for two NORAM Races and US Technical Nationals Championships. I again got an 8th in the NORAM GS and had a 3rd place finish at the GS Nationals.  Which was my very first podium.  It was a great day and really boosted my morale, knowing that my skiing was getting better was enough for me, but to have a good result made it shown on paper.  My Slalom woes continued with 2 more DNF’s.  But again I am really skiing SL aggressively so I am in no way disappointed.

February will have me traveling to Canada for two Super G races and 2 Downhill races, followed by Park City at the end of the month for two more GS races and one SL race.  I am hoping to do well in these and qualify for World Cup.  I am training hard and making huge strides in my technique, speed and how I attack the course.  I will try update my results after these upcoming races.

I hope all of you had a great Holiday and that your New Years are going well.
